Without Animal Suffering and Pain

WASP science has for ambition to develop and to promote a systematic use of substitution, through the validation of innovative methods, so much for the quality of the practical training than to refine and optimise experimental models.

Regulatory Training

Initial surgical training approuved by the Ministry of Agriculture, without any use of living animals.

On Site Training

You have several employees to train, we can organise a training session on your site.

Specialised Continuous Training

You aim to refine your techniques and knowledges, or to learn new ones.

Consulting

You aim to reevaluate your procedures or to develop new models.

In Europe, the 2010/63/UE Directive by the European Parliament and by the Council of the 22nd of September 2010, relative to the protection of animals used for scientific purposes, is progressively applied by the 27 States Members.

WASP science develops regulatory trainings, initial or continuous, relying strongly on the 3R principles and without any use of living animals (consequently, without resulting to euthanasia for the sole purpose of creating training materials).
Beyond the ethical preoccupations, this choice is favorable to the acquisition of precise gestures and allows to focus the attention of interns on the technique only, avoiding stress or apprehension.

With the affirmed will of limiting waste (through the use of disposable consumable), our trainings are based on innovative training tools and materials, reusable and/or biodegradable, and offer the possibility to learn the surgical techniques and the intervention’s logistic without arm or animals.

The Fondation de Droit animal Éthique et Science (Foundation of animal ethics law and science) warded WASP by attributing the Biology Award Alfred Kastler 2013 to Madam Catherine VOGT, Veterinarian Doctor, graduated for the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Sciences and Techniques Surgical and Microsurgery.

 Regulatory Training

Training in surgical technique applied to experimentation and without use of living animals.
Training approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishing, the 11th of July 2011, accordingly to the 19/04/1988 ruling.

Approuved by the National Commission of Animal Experimentation, in a national regulatory setting (Decree 2013-118, 1st of February 2013 – NOR: AGRG1238729A – Legifrance), this training approaches the technical and operational basics of surgery and allows to acquire necessary competences to achieve surgical interventions for projects.

Based on a 3 days practical training, this training is addressed to holders of a level 1 ou 2 training, meaning people trained to procedure application (A function) and people designing them (B function) – (B and C FELASA).

The Swiss Association of Cantonaux Veterinarians validates this training as 3 days of refinement.

This training, almost fully practical, offers every participant the possibility to apprehend safely the common basics of surgery, through simple exercices. Le number of participant is voluntarely limited to allow optimal teaching, evaluation and certification of everyone’s capacity to realise the different tasks (correct incision, control infectious and hemorrhagic risks, choose sutures…). The analysis of procedures asked by participants enriches the discussion and allows for advices to be aligned with the critical points and the options to limit complications. The 60 pages teaching document (yearly reviewed) reminds the theory.

The educational impact, evaluated 6 months post-training, shows that above 70% of participants have changed their practices following our training.

 Specialised Continuous Training

You aim to refine your techniques and knowledges, or to learn new ones.

True to the concept of full substitution, several modules of specialised surgery are being developed. They aim to fit with the new regulations regarding training throughout life: tumoral exeresis and transplantation models, permanent catheterisation on laboratory rodents, initiation to microsurgery…

These modules, of various lengths, aim to refine the gesture and to initiate oneself to surgery under operating microscope. These more complex procedures are approached with the same stringency, to validate the gesture sequence or justify the technical choices.

 –  Training in stereotaxic neurosurgery on the rodent, without use of living animals.

 –  Initiation to microsurgery.

The practice of microsurgery requires to tame the use of an operating microscope and to acquire a different gesture, based on the forearms and wrists.

WASP science offers a training based on an already known physical model, used for Inter-Universities microsurgery diplomas.

–  Microsurgery, vascular or nervous (on isolated vessels and/or artificial substitutes).

– Maintenance of existing skills (suture, asepsis…)

On Site Training
